Again a big thank you to all of you for your support and compliance with all the restrictions we have in place – in the last weeks, we have returned to competitive golf with magnificent turnouts and impressive scores!
As the NI Executive has approved a further easing of restrictions, Golf in Northern Ireland is moving to Step 3 of the Protocol starting on June 29.
The main changes are:
⁃ Further shortening of the intervals between tee times to 10 minutes for 4 balls
⁃ Visitors are welcome
⁃ Juniors are now allowed to play on their own
⁃ The locker rooms can be used for changing
As with the previous stages, the detailed rules and restrictions will be sent out separately. Booking on BRS remains in place.
Social distancing of 2 meters still has to be adhered to, but finally social gatherings on Club premises are allowed as long as the government restrictions of 10 non-members of your household are adhered to.
The biggest and for many, like me, most longed for change comes into effect on July 3rd, when our bar can reopen. Hence, we will restart our most social competition, the Friday Mixed on July 3rd – hopefully to gather afterwards in the Club House for food and drinks, even with some restrictions still in place. Starting times for the Mixed will be from 16:30 until 19:00. BRS will be open for booking in the morning of Saturday, June 27th. The format will be a 9 hole Greensomes as usual, the only difference being that each player uses their own ball throughout the hole, placing within 6 inches of the partner’s ball no nearer to the hole where appropriate.
I look forward to meeting old friends, and hopefully many new ones from amongst the many new members who have joined the Club in the last few weeks. Finally we can welcome you in something akin to the traditional Fintona way!
Yours in Sport,
Raymond Scott
